Last Weekend

Last weekend was pretty low key and nice.  My mom was in town for a conference so she stayed with us Thursday through Sunday.  Friday night, we stayed in and ate wine and cheese that she'd picked up from Trader Joe's (as well as some wine from Jared's parents - they were with us in spirit!).  Saturday, Lisa came to take Parker's 6 mos pictures.  The sneak peek from those photos was great.  I can't wait to see the finished result.  After that, Jared and I left Parker with GranJill so that we could go bike.  We left right after we put him down for his nap, and guess what, we made it home before he even woke up!  We had a great time though.
We rode bikes on the Silver Comet trail for about half an hour.  It was great - it was flat and very well shaded.  It was a beautiful, sunny day.  All in all it was a fun time.  That night, we cooked birthday dinner for my mom.  For an appetizer, she had scallops wrapped in bacon (one of her favorite treats).  We followed that with seared tuna steaks, a salad, veggies and rice.  Dessert was apricot almond brie and crackers.

Sunday, Patrick and Jessica came to visit.  They'd gone to a Braves game the night before at Turner Field.  They got to watch a shut out there.  At our house, they got to watch a spectacular 9th inning win!  Oh yeah, they also got to visit with Parker.  I assured Patrick that Parker was pretty sturdy at this point, so he agreed to hold him.  However, he could not afford to make any funny faces at him - he's got a rep to uphold.  :)
I did think it was funny that Patrick was much sweeter to Jasmine than normal (he was never mean).  Now that he has a couple of dogs, he has become a "dog" person, and that cracked me up.  All in all, a good weekend!

Parker's 6 mos photo session

Lisa came to our house to take pictures of Parker yesterday.  It was a great session.  Parker was in a good mood most of the time and turned on some of his sweet charm.  She got some really great shots.  Here are a few.

This past weekend...

This weekend was what Jared had been working toward for weeks!  After much preparation, he finally took his Lieutenant's test on Sunday.  He left feeling really good about it.

Saturday, I did some yard work while Parker and Jared soaked up some rays (Jared was studying).  Parker put on his Clemson gear for the spring football game, but CSS had technical difficulties and didn't carry it.  Parker and Jared were both so very disappointed.  :)  Following Jared's test, we went out to the Corn's to have the season's first mojitos and let loose a little. Parker really enjoyed the playgym at the Corns.  It had lots of nifty toys!  Parker and Oliver wore their matching outfits that GrandJill gave them.  Looking good in their visors!

Easter

Parker had a great Easter.  He traveled down to Eastman for an egg hunt and his great great grandmother's 99th birthday!  He also stopped by to visit his Granddaddy.  GranJill found Mommy's ideal Easter romper for him, and she thought he was the most handsome guy ever in it.  It was a long day, and Parker probably talked more during church than the preacher, but all in all, he was a trooper and enjoyed seeing his family.

Parker's 6 month visit

Today Parker went in for his 6 month visit.  He weighed 15 lbs, 13oz!  He was 25 1/2 inches.  Our little boy is growing!  He was in the 25th percentile for weight, length and head circumference.  The doctor must have feared that we were concerned about Parker's height because she told us she thought he would grow to be around 6 feet tall (given my height and Jared's height).  We talked a little about his development - I let her know he wasn't sitting up yet.  She mentioned that babies have different muscle tones which effect their development.  It seems that Parker doesn't really like using his muscles, so he might not be ahead of the pack when it comes to crawling and walking and all that jazz.  That's just a little less chasing that Jared and I will have to do.  He got four shots today.  Bless his sweet heart.  He was so sad about them, but he regrouped pretty quickly.  He took some good naps for daddy today.  All in all, our little one is as healthy as can be and got a lot of compliments on those sweet baby blues.

Toothie & Dada

The last two days have been somewhat momentous (to us new parents anyway).  Monday Jared called me at work to tell me that Parker had said "dada."  We have been coaching him hoping he would say "lala", "dada" and/or "mama."  He is having a great time chatting with people.  When we were in church this past Sunday, he refused to quiet down and had a great time chatting with the preacher as he was preaching to the rest of us.

Tonight when I was holding him in my lap, I checked his front bottom gums to find a tooth peeking through!  It seems that Parker will have a shiny new tooth to show off soon!

Parker's First Braves Game

My firm gave away tickets to last night's exhibition game at Turner Field.  I so was giddy about taking Parker to his first game.  We invited our friends Tom and Shannon along for the good time.  The exhibition game is a great game to bring kids to.  Attendance was at about 50% at best, so there were no big crowds.  Parker was such a trooper.  He typically goes to bed around 8:30, but he was up until about 10:15 or so -- and was still the sweetest baby.  We received compliments left and right about how good he was being and what a good sport he was.  His Braves onesie was especially popular!  He took a picture with Homer and got a picture with his Dad in front of the giant baseball.  What good times!

Chipper Jones & Brian McCann up to Bat - our seats were AWESOME!
