Zac Brown

I can't believe that the same Zac Brown that I used to toast two times a week (Wednesday and Friday) at the Dixie Tavern is now being played nationally AND has a video on CMT. You go boy!

2008 Pumpking Carving Fun

We gathered at the Corns for the annual pumking carving. Each year, we have an appetizer, a sampling of two chilis, a delicious dessert and pumpkin carving fun. This year I carved a witches face and Jared carved a bat. Eli made a light brite kitty cat. Jared and Nikki hated their pumpkins; Joe didn't finish his pumpkin, but we all had a good time.

FINALLY!!!

After 7-8 years of dating, our friends Desmond and Joyce finally tied the knot. We couldn't be happier for them.

I Voted!

Today, I mailed in my absentee ballot. No long lines for me on election day. There is a part of me that wishes that I lived in a swing state and that my vote would make a difference. The bummer about voting absentee is that I don't get my sticker. I guess I'll have to settle for this graphic.

Daddy's Pillow Sure is GOOD!

Today while at work, I received an email from Jared telling me that he had just caught Jasmine licking his pillow. Oddly enough, we catch her licking our pillows once every few months. So, not only does she lay on our pillows (rather than the entire rest of the bed) while we are not in the bed, she also enjoys licking them to give them that extra personal (or dogonal) touch.

Clemson 17 (but with a lot of heart), GT 21

Jared and I went to South Carolina for the Clemson v. Georgia Tech game this weekend. Although the Tigers were defeated, we had a great time. Honestly, I wasn't my most enthusiastic about waking up at 7:30 a.m. on the weekend to tailgate, but we had a great time. Our tailgate included guacamole, french onion dip, chocolate chip walnut cookies, brats and beer. Sounds like a great breakfast, right? :) We had Tech fans on one side of us and Clemson fans on the other. Amazingly, it turned out that I vaguely knew one of the neighboring Tech fans. She was a senior when I taught at Wheeler High School.

One of the exciting aspects of this trip was that it was Jasmine's first time to Jared's parents' home. Boy did she have a blast! She was SO excited when Jared started packing her bag because she knew she was going on the trip with us and would not be left behind. Once we arrived, she loved the freedom of being able to roam around the big yard as free as can be. She and Max got along splendidly, and she carefully heeded Kitty, their cat.

While there, we were able to sample more flavors from the Purinton winery in addition to a few well crafted beers. Luckily, we were able to bring a bottle of plum wine back with us that I will take to my friend, Kelly's, wine tasting.

All in all, it was a great trip!

Weekend Dogsitting

This weekend we kept Stanley, our friend Ashley's dog. He and Jasmine get along splendidly and play until they are too exhausted to play any longer. Here are a few pictures from the weekend. The couldn't get enough tug of war, and both of them love, love, love Jared.

Bye, Bye Bowden!

Luckily, our tickets to the Clemson game didn't sell. I don't think my husband could have been any happier than today when he heard that Tommy Bowden either stepped down or was fired as Clemson's head coach. Clemson started out ranked in the top ten, but 7 weeks into the season, they have an abysmal record of 3-3 and have 2 conference losses in a season they were predicted to be ACC champs. Saturday will be a fresh start, and we'll be there for it.

Clemson Tickets For Sale

After Clemson's sad, sad display of football last night. Jared, during halftime, put our Clemson v. Georgia Tech tickets up for sale. It listed them with a reserve price to ensure that we get our money back. My bet is that they won't sell, and we'll be cheering Clemson on next weekend while they, likely, get pounded by a more than decent Georgia Tech team (sorry Jared!).

My Very Own OB/GYN

Last night, my husband and his crew helped deliver a baby! When they arrived, they thought they wouldn't have to deliver the baby because the woman's water had not broke. Luckily the Grady EMT's arrived just before her water broke and the baby immediately crowned. Her baby was delivered right there on the spot. What a fun experience!

Delicious Coffee for Jared

This morning Jared returned home totally exhausted. They had a fire in the middle of the night, and he hadn't gotten much rest. So, I decided to get up and get a few things done while he slept, including breakfast. I decided to make a grits casserole so that we could share a yummy breakfast once he woke up. I also decided to make coffee for Jared. Since I don't drink coffee, Jared always makes his own. But after a rough night, I wanted my hubby to wake up to a hot breakfast and a hot cup of coffee. Once everything was done, I went to wake him up and whisper that I have breakfast and that I even made coffee. He was surprised. He came to the kitchen and headed straight to the coffee pot. Before he poured a cup, he asked me how many scoops of coffee I put in the pot, I replied two. He began to shake his head and laugh and told me that I made the coffee with half of the amount I was supposed to make it with. He had orange juice instead. Oh well...I tried.
