Sofa Shopping

So yesterday, we went shopping for a sleeper sofa. Since our condo is only 2 bedrooms, what was our guest space became the nursery. We wanted to be able to provide guests (especially grandparents) with somewhere to sleep comfortably. We really wanted leather to minimize the washing and steam cleaning of a couch, but we were concerned we wouldn't find a leather (not "pleather") sleeper sofa in our price range...that was also comfortable and not ugly. BUT, we did! It's being delivered tomorrow. Yay!

37 Weeks

Just a few more weeks before this baby is DUE! However, since our little Parker is full term, I'm ready for him to come now. :) Everything checked out well at our appointment today. They asked me if I wanted to be "checked", and I said yes. Maybe I shouldn't have...hearing that you're only dilated 1/2 a centimeter was not especially encouraging for having the baby soon...especially when your lamaze instructor said that some people walk around for weeks at 3 cm. Here's to walking, spicy meals and other baby having tricks for the next couple of weeks!

Lamaze and Birthdays

Jared and I attended lamaze class this weekend (Friday night and Saturday). Our class started out with three couples on Friday but ended with only two on Saturday. Lots of one on one attention. It was great and really helpful. I think it put both of our minds a little more at ease.

Following class, we went over to Gabriel's to pick up a chocolate pound cake to surprise Nikki with on her birthday. We met Jamie, Eli, Atticus and her for dinner at Elevation, a restaurant on the runway of Kennesaw's airport. Nikki and Jamie (and especially their kids) usually enjoy going there because you can sit next to the windows and watch airplanes take off and land; however, in the rainy weather we were experiencing, there was only one plane. Nevertheless, it's always fun to go out with the Corns especially when we are celebrating birthdays! Happy Birthday, Nikki Corn!

Braxton Hicks, Oh My!

This morning I had some contractions. It was kind of fun to sneak in and tell Jared before I left for work. As of now, they are about 45 minutes apart. At this point in my pregnancy, the doctor thinks they may be painful Braxton Hicks contractions. If they begin to get closer together, they will want me to leave work and go home and count.

She said that I may have these today and not have anymore for two weeks, so it's not a sure sign that I'm going into labor. I hope I am not. I want Parker to hold out at least two more weeks (listen to mommy...must we have battles this early on?). We don't want any visits to the NICU!

My body's getting ready to birth this baby. It's a little terrifying and exciting all at the same time.

Couple's Shower

My friend's Ann, Ashley, Kelly and Nikki threw a lovely couples shower for us yesterday. What a perfect event! Everything was beautiful from the wonderful centerpieces Ann made to the delicious drinks (alcoholic and non) and food. The club soda peach mint bellinis were a special treat for me. It was the perfect mix of good friends. Once again, we were so touched and overwhelmed by the wonderful amount of support we receive from our friends and family.

Most importantly, Parker racked up plenty of Clemson gear. This little guy is ready to join the Tiger nation. :)

Surprise Baby Shower

We received an email from Jared's parents this morning telling us that they had thrown his mom a surprise baby shower. I know that Debbie is a great mother in law, but she must also be a great coworker and boss to receive such support from her coworkers!

34 Weeks

My checkup this week was pretty good. Baby is on target, weight gain is ok. I am still having some swelling in my left ankle which has increased since my last visit, and my blood pressure was up (but not worrisomely high). Since Jared has the resources, we are going to monitor my BP on the days that he works. So far, so good.
