Christmas with the Purintons
We all met up at Jared's parent's house for a feast and family fun! While there, we got a great group shot, and a shot of all of the grandchildren!

Christmas Eve Eve
We have a favorite holiday tradition with the Corns that began long before Jared and I were even together. Now, Eli, Jared, Atticus and Parker have all joined us for our tradition of Christmas Eve Eve in which we go to the Corns's house to exchange gifts and feast on spaghetti and meatballs. It's always so much fun.

Fireman's Christmas
Jared and his station had their Christmas dinner tonight. Their captain baked a turkey and ham, made macaroni and cheese, green beans, deviled eggs, and a salad (maybe something else I forgot). He also brought in a friendship cake. They guys at a neighboring station brought the sweet potatoes. I dropped by a red velvet cake and was invited to stay for dinner. It was DELISH! Parker had a great time seeing his dad in action. He was worn out when we got home and fell asleep in his bouncy seat.

Ultrasound Results
Parker's brain is healthy. It's just a fluid pocket from his delivery. Our pediatrician had never seen one so late, but the neurosurgeons at Children's Hospital see them plenty. If it hasn't gotten smaller in the next two weeks, we are going to call to see if there is some action we need to take, but they assume it will go away on its own. We are going to be measuring it once a week starting tonight!
My Laughing Boy
Parker laughed for the first time this morning. I was talking to him and playing with him while he was laying in the floor. It was loud enough that Jared could hear it in the sunroom. He laughed twice. It was so fun and so precious. My mom even heard it on the phone.
It's funny b/c I was just watching the "Friends" episode in which Ross makes Emma laugh for the first time by singing "Baby Got Back." I tried that to try to get him to laugh again, but he didn't think that was quite as funny as just general mommy silliness.

Parker's Ultrasound
We'll have the results by next Wednesday, but they said that Parker's brain looks good. They believe his lump to just be fluid likely caused by his vacuum extraction. The radiologist still has to review the results, but that was the initial determination. They were a little surprised that our pediatrician was so thrown off by it. She acted as if the doctor we saw for our sick appointment had a reasonable diagnosis.

Girls' Day Out
Nikki and I went to watch New Moon this past weekend while the men took care of our boys. It was great fun. I still am on team Jacob! The boys all watched a bunch of football and had a lot of fun. Parker liked watching Eli and Atticus run around. We tried to take some pictures of Parker in front of the Christmas tree for this year's Christmas cards, but none of them turned out too cute. Of course, it goes without saying, that there was good food with good friends. The night ended on a sour note -- Clemson lost to Georgia Tech in a nail biting ACC championship.

Parker is Growing - 2 month checkup
The good news -- Parker is fattening up like a champ (as if you couldn't tell by his pictures). Today he was 11 lbs 13 oz. That's nearly 3 lbs from last month's visit! This put him in the 25-50th percentiles for his age! Yay! He's still a little short at 22.25 inches (up 2.25 inches from last month). He is developmentally on track, and she described him as "just a pleasure" to be around.
The not so good news -- our pediatrician was a little concerned about the fluidly lump on his head which has progressively gotten bigger since the week before Thanksgiving. Another pediatrician (on our sick visit when I first noticed it) diagnosed it as caput succedaneum which resulted from using the vacuum at birth. Our pediatrician was not so sure. So, we're having a cranial ultrasound this coming Friday at Scottish Rite. We'll be in the best hands in Atlanta. The good news is that she does not think that the fluid is on his brain or a result of a problem with his brain.

Thanksgiving 2009 - Parker's First
Jared's mom, dad and brother along with my mom and brother joined us for Thanksgiving this year. We had a feast of fried turkey, oyster dressing, giblet gravy, green bean casserole (from scratch), cranberry sauce (from scratch - no can jelly), and chicken and dumplings (soupy -- just like I like 'em). We topped all of that off with delicious pumpkin pies and pecan bars. What a feast!
Even more fun was all of the quality time we were able to spend with our families. My mom came and helped on Wednesday and Thursday while Jared's parents stayed through Sunday. His brother stayed until Saturday. Parker was able to spend a lot of time with those dearest to him. Now that's something to be thankful for!

Bottle Feeding
Parker's first bottle feeding went really well. Since then it's been a battle. This is especially worrisome since we need to get him comfortable with a bottle so that we can get him comfortable with a bottle and formula for my return to work. Yesterday, we tried a different bottle. It seemed to work a little better. I also tried feeding him freshly expressed milk rather than frozen milk. That seemed to work a little better as well.

Visit to DMQ

Yesterday, Parker went with Mommy to visit her coworkers at DMQ. He was a big hit. I was so proud that he was so well behaved. Everyone kept saying how tiny he was, and I kept correcting them and telling them how big he is. Most people thought he looked like Jared. Oh well, no Sandi seems to be peaking through...even when I showed them the picture that my mom sent me of me at 6 weeks (which Jared and I both thought looked like Parker).
Parker Slept How Long?
Wednesday night, Parker slept a whopping 8 hours. Jared woke up at 4:00 a.m., realized what time it was and went to check on him. He came back to report that all was well. I was a bit worried. This week marked a week in which most nights had a 5 or 6 hour stint of sleep (other than last night...the longest was 4. I guess he was well rested from the night before). This is great news though. Hopefully, he will have good sleep practices when I go back to work.
